The iOS jailbreak developers have finally got a break through and have released an untethered jailbreak for non-A5 iOS devices running iOS 5.0.1.

iOS のジェイルブレイク･デベロッパーたちはカベを打ち破り、non-A5 の iOS デバイスにインストールされた iOS 5.0.1 に対して、その戒めを解くべく、ジェイルブレイクを公表したようだ。

apple jailbreak @pod2g – the developer who found the Jailbreak exploit – gave the exploit to both the iPhone Dev team and the Chronic Dev Team a few days ago. Both the Dev. team have updated their respective apps – PwnageTool, redsn0w and the Cydia package. The untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak is meant only for non-A5 devices from Apple which includes the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, and the iPod Touch 3G/4G. このジェイルブレイクを見つけ出したデベロッパー @pod2g は、iPhone Dev Team と、Chronic Dev Team の功績をたたえている。どちらの Dev Team とも、それぞれのアプリケーションである、PwnageTool／redsn0w／Cydia のパッケージを更新した。ただし、これらの iOS 5.0.1 ジェイルブレイクは、Apple が提供する non-A5 デバイス専用のものであり、その対象は、iPhone 3GS／iPhone 4／iPad 1／iPod Touch (３G, 4G) となる。興味があるなら、この Link からダウンロードし、必要なインストラクションを参照して欲しい。

The developer is also working hard on trying to port this exploit to the current generation A5 devices from Apple.

そして、これらのデベロッパーたちは、Apple の最新 A5 デバイスに対しても、このジェイルブレイクをポートしようと、懸命に努力しているようだ。

Did you get an Android phone or tablet for the holidays? If you did, you’re not alone, as Google’s Andy Rubin tweeted that there were 3.7 million Android activations in just two days near Christmas.

あなたも、クリスマスの休暇中に、Android が走るタブレットやスマートフォンを購入した一人なのだろうか？もし、そうなら、とても大勢の仲間がいる。 Google の Andy Rubin がツイートしたところによると、クリスマスの 2日間にアクティベートされた Android は、なんと 370万に達したようだ。

“UPDATE: There were 3.7M Android devices activated on 12/24 and 12/25,” Rubin tweeted.

Google previously clarified that these activations mean brand new devices connected to a wireless network, so these numbers aren’t being goosed up by old devices changing hands. I guess Android tablets could also play a part in this if it had 3G connectivity built in and a data plan but I’d be willing to guess that more than 95 percent of these were smartphones. It’s not much of a surprise, as there were a ton of sales on Android devices for the holidays and there were high-profile devices like the Galaxy Nexus, Droid Razr and Galaxy S II.

The holiday season is always very popular for new phones and increasingly, tablets and we just saw a report from Flurry which said about 6.7 million iPhones and Android devices were activated around Christmas. Google giving its official insight into Android activations gives us a better idea of how many iPhones were also given as gifts but we’ll have to wait until Apple reports its fourth-quarter results before we truly know how well the iPhone did this holiday season.

このホリデー･シーズンは、新しいスマートフォンが大量に販売される時期であり、今年はタブレットも、そこに加わる。そして、Flurry からのレポートにも、およそ 670万の iPhone／Android デバイスが、クリスマス前後にアクティベートされたというレポートを得ている。 Google が提供する、Android のアクティベーションに関するオフィシャル･データは、iPhones の販売量を推測する上でも、素晴らしいプレゼントになっている。しかし、このホリデー･シーズンに販売された、iPhone の数を正確に把握するためには、Apple の Q4 レポートを待たなければならないだろう。

それにしても、ものすごい販売量ですね。この記事から算出すると、Apple も 300万台の iOS デバイスを売っていることになります。上記の Flurry のリンクから追ってみたのですが、このデータがワールドワイドを示すのか、アメリカ市場を示すのかは、明記されていませんでした（読み落とし？）。この勢いは、もちろん来年も続くでしょうし、さらに加速するのでしょう。ーーー

Ahead of the Nokia Windows Phone launch in the United States, Microsoft’s new mobile operating system is said to have reached the 50,000 apps mark, a small number compared to other mobile platforms, but a big number if the growth trend will continue.

アメリカ市場における Nokia Windows フォンの立ち上げに先行して、この新しいモバイル OS で走るアプリケーションが、50,000 タイトルに達したと、Microsoft がアナウンスした。他のモバイル･プラットフォームとの比較において、それは小さな値であるが、この傾向が継続するなら、大きな値となっていく。

According to the data provided by All About Windows Phone (AAWP), Microsoft took 14 months to reach the 50,000 apps, and compared to its competitors, Google’s Android took 19 months to reach the same number of apps, while Apple’s iOS which powers the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch took 12 months.

All About Windows Phone (AAWP) が提供するデータによると、50,000 タイトルのアプリケーションに到達するまでに、Microsoft は 14カ月を要している。そして、他のモバイル OS はとなると、Google の Android は50,000 アプリケーションまでに 19カ月を要し、Apple は iPad／iPhone／iPod Touch 用の iOS で、12カ月を要している。

AAWP also added that Microsoft’s Windows Phone marketplace is adding at least 265 new applications per 24 hours. 58 percent of the apps inside the Windows Phone’s application market are free, while 29 percent requires payment and the remaining 14 percent are offering free trial.

さらに AAWP は、Microsoft の Windows Phone Marketplace には 24時間ごとに、少なくとも 265 タイトルの新しいアプリケーションが加えられていると説明している。なお、Windows Phone の Appplication Market では、そのアプリケーションの 58% が無料であり、また、29% が優良である。そして、残りの 14% が無料のトライアル･バージョンを提供するものとなっている。

When it comes to the category of the apps, Windows Phone reportedly offers more entertainment applications, while games and productivity apps are take the back seat.

そのアプリケーション･カテゴリーの話だが、Windows Phone に関するレポートによると、最も多いのはエンタメ系のアプリケーションであり、ゲームやビジネス系のアプリケーションなどが、その後に続くとされている。
