DroidPad from Spice launched, looks similar to OlivePad, ViewPad
It’s named DroidPad MI700 brought forth by Spice Mobility and comes with some decent specs. It’s built around a Qualcomm MSM 7227 chipset clocking in at 700 Mhz along with half a gig of RAM. The DroidPad is also equipped with a similar sized ROM, while its main visible area is made up of a 7 inch 16M TFT capacitive touch screen having a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The tablet is selling in that country for RM 1,599 which comes to around 23,000 INR or $514. So that can be an indication of what the tablet might cost when it is eventually launched.

Advent Vega tablet won’t come with Android Market
The Advent Vega comes in as a pretty decent package. 10.1 inch of screen goodness, multitouch capacitive display having a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, a powerful 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra T20 processor coupled to 512MB of RAM, a 4GB microSD card slot, built-in 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, and so much more.  What’s more, the Advent Vega also has the blessing of the Android 2.2 Froyo, the latest and the best from the Google camp that any tablet PC can have at the moment. And then the price is also reasonably good at £250. In fact, with that price, its more affordable than even the least priced iPad that sells in the UK for £42.

eLocity A7 tablet now available on pre-order
The eLocity A7 also carries a unique distinction of being the first tablet device to go on sale in the US running the latest Android 2.2 Froyo. This apart, among the other important specifications of the eLocity A7 include a seven inch capacitive multi-touch display having a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The tablet has the power of a NVIDIA Tegra T-250 dual core processor and also includes a 4 GB high speed internal flash memory. And lastly, coming to the other important aspect of the tablet. The eLocity A7 can be yours for $369.99, which makes it extremely competitive in the segment. More so if the high cost of the Galaxy Tab is taken into consideration.

Viewsonic to soon launch a 5 inch Tablet PC
While we already know Viewsonic has already started off with development work on a 7 inch along with 2 devices in the 10 inch category of tablets, what came as a surprise is that the company is also willing to test waters in the 5 inch category of tablets as well. This will bring Viewsonic in direct contention with Archos and Dell who have tablet PCs in this segment, though without brand recognition like Dell’s, the going might be a bit tough for Viewsonic. However, the company has stated their intended market with the mini tablet is in the emerging markets of Southeast Asia.

The OPAD N3 – Another 7 inch Android tablet
The Chinese manufacturer ONN has ensured the number of tablets in the 7 inch category increases by one more with their tablet PC – the Opad N3 being the latest entrant to the list. And almost quite predictably, the Opad runs the Android operating system. This ensures enhanced response times while a 1GHz Rockchip RK2818 ARM-based processor ensures blazing performance. The tablet is also able to connect to the Internet via either Wi-Fi or EVDO 3G mobile broadband connectivity and includes a SIM card slot. The tablet has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Walgreens To Sell Maylong M-150 Android Tablet
So much for the Samsung Galaxy Tab and its high price tag. Here is a tablet that also run on Android and comes at extremely down to earth prices. For a paltry 99$ you can pick up one of these tablets,  and it also makes a nice gift for tech savvy friends and relatives in the approaching holiday season. 800 x 480 pixels that greets you first thing about the tablet. On the inside, its an ARM9(VM8505+) CPU coupled to a 256 MB DDR memory that does duty. For connecting to the Internet, the M-150 includes Wi-Fi b/g though there is no 3G option available.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 now available for pre-order in UK
Those out to buy a tablet PC in the UK have just been provided with one more choice – the ViewPad 7 tablet PC from Viewsonic. The tablet had first seen the light of day back at IFA in August but is now ready enough to be pre-ordered. Currently, those who aspire to own the ViewPad 7 can place their orders at Misco while also keep aside the £399 that it has been priced at. The tablet cost works out to around $635 US which surely looks steeply priced though for consolation, there are other tablets more costly than the ViewPad. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab which retails for an even higher £530.

Elonex eTouch Android tablet for just £90
The Elonex eTouch tablet is available in two size options – 7 and 10 inch both of which look like an iPad rip off. Price for the 7 inch tablet has been fixed at £89.99 or $145 while the 10 inch model will set one back by £149.99, which translates to around $240. Coming to the points where the Elonex eTouch isn’t as laggard as it might seem, the tablet is powered by a 1GHz ARM 11 processor. For reference, the iPad is built around a 1GHz Apple A4 processor while the same for the Galaxy Tab is an ARM Cortex A8 processor also having the same clock speed of 1GHz. When it’s about processor speeds, all three are pretty much on the same footing.

Archos 70 Internet Tablet now shipping
After the Archos 43, the French PMP maker is now geared up to unleash its 7 inch device suitably named the Archos 70. Price has been fixed at $279, which makes it substantially cheaper than the other 7 inch tablet currently making waves, the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  A 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, an OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics accelerator, 8GB of solid state storage (which can’t be considered a limitation as there is a SD card slot to further enhance storage), 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth.

Toshiba Folio now shipping
Not every one is paying heed to Google’s calls for keeping the Android 2.2 Froyo out of their tablets and Toshiba is one more to be seen among the defiant group of manufacturers. In doing so, they have stuck to what they had promised during the launch of the Folio 100 during IFA in Germany – a commercial launch of the Android 2.2 tablet during the fourth quarter of the year. The stylish Folio 100 has now gone on sale throughout Europe at prices ranging from 399 and 499 Euros. Also, apart from running Android 2.2 Froyo which is still the latest in the Android series from Google, the Folio 100 also packs in another latest, the dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor that is the best ARM SOC to come our way to date.

Android tablet ‘Allview AllDro’ from Romania
Visual Fan, a little known company that operates out of Brasov, Romania has come up with a new tablet PC – the Allview AllDro that will further add to the ever growing Android tablet crowd.  Each Allview AllDro is expected to cost €200 when it goes on sale next month which, needless to say, is a whole lot cheaper than the much hyped Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, details of the Allview AllDro are scant at best. The only thing that we know of the tablet is that it would have a 800Mhz processor at it heart, 2 GB of internal memory, mini HDMI and USB ports as well as a microsd card slot that will allow for expansion of storage capacity to a maximum of 32 GB.

Marvell Android tablet reference design spotted
Chip maker Marvell has come up with a tablet reference design powered by its own Armada 600 chip. The tablet runs the latest Android 2.2 Froyo, has a 10 inch display, and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The prototype tablet is capable of playing back 1080p HD quality video and has support for 3D graphics acceleration. Of course, the whole point behind the move is to show off what the latest Marvell creation, the Armada 600 chip, is capable of. And it is this that forms the most interesting part of the story, because the tablet has been mighty impressive in its performance and seems to have an answer for anything thrown at it. Marvell is claiming the Armada 600 chip will have a clock speed of 1 GHz and will have ultra low power requirement characteristics.

Velocity Micro Cruz Tablet T103 now shipping
A lucrative one at that, because the tablet has been priced at a quite affordable $300. With a 7 inch TFT capacitive touch panel up front, the T103 is one more in the 7 inch tablet segment that is witnessing the maximum activity right now and is currently being dominated by the Galaxy Tab. Like the T103 comes with a 800 x 480 pixel display that is far less than the Galaxy Tab’s more extravagant 1024 x 800 pixel density. The rest of the spec story sings a similar tune. The tablet packs in 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory which can be enhanced to 8 GB via the SD card route, built-in speakers, a mini-USB port along with a headphone port as well. Connectivity options are limited to just 802.11n Wi-Fi and there are no 3G or Bluetooth options available as of now.

The Elocity also comes with a lot of other features like an accelerometer, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel webcam, a SD card slot and a USB port. The tablet also includes an HDMI port that will let the Elocity A7 play back HD videos on a compatible TV with the least of fuss. tablet PC news from the land of the rising sun. And going by what has emerged of the tablet till now, it going to be one device to look forward to. SL-7 Android tablet from Suli
The Hong Kong based company Suli International has joined the budget
Android tablet race with the Suli SL-7 device. Likely to be priced at around the $249 mark at the retailers, the tablet quite expectedly does not break any new grounds with either its performance or features and is one more to allure those who are on the look out for a cheaper tablet alternative. Running Android 2.1, the Suli SL-7 comes with a 800 x 480 pixel Glass type 7 inch Capacitive touch screen that is sensitive to multiple touch. The tablet is based on a 600MHz Rockchip RK2818 processor which is a step up from the Rockchip RK2808 that had impressed many with its performance some time ago. Meanwhile, the current Rockchip RK2818 CPU, which in itself is a combination of an ARM9 600mhz processor and a 550mhz new high performance DSP does a pretty nice job. Coupled to a 256 MB DDR2 RAM, the tablet is capable of playing back 720 p videos effortlessly.

On board storage though is quite cramped at just 8 GB for a tablet that boasts of great media capabilities, compatible as it is with almost every known media formats. Connectivity options with the Ziio 7 include Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and WiFi 802.11 b/g while the device also features mini USB port, 3.5 mm stereo jack as well as a video out port. Sharp Galapagos tablet goes on sale in Japan
As for the tablet itself, its two devices measuring 5.5-inch and a 10.8 inch model that make up the
Galapagos range. Both the tablets run the Android operating system which has been worked upon extensively by Sharp to make it just right for its tablet. The company however is loathe to call the device as proper tablet PCs and seems comfortable to market these as multimedia devices. Sharp has also put in place a content store that will have on offer a variety of material such as digital books, magazine, videos, and so on that will also act to justify the multimedia tag that the device carries. The price of the smaller 5.5 inch Galapagos tablet has been fixed at 39,800 yen in Japan which translates to a rather high $475 while its bigger sibling, the 10.8 Galapagos is selling for 54,800 yen or about $650 US. There is no word yet as to when the device can be expected to make its international foray though what seems to be sure is that costs are likely to be lower than their Japanese counterparts.
